"Invasion" Will Draw You In

By John Crawford

October 24th, 2005

This is turning out to be like 24.  The storyline moves slower than a daytime soap, but I like it anyhow. they've stayed away from the death and destruction of the hurricane, and focused on character development.  A good example is Dr. Underlay and the her husband the Sherrif. Apparently, they have already been "invaded", but last weeks episode showed how fragile their marriage is.  Up till then, they seemed like they might still be on their honeymoon.  And with the previews for this week, Dr. Underlay having an indescretion with someone "half her age",  I think it's about to get interesting.  Maybe we'll see why they have it in that 10:00 time slot.

The relationship that seems shaky is Russell and Larkin.  Russell was married to Mariel (Dr.) Underlay.  At times it almost seems like they are gonna get together, even if for a brief moment. But out of the blue comes an breath of sarcasm, some left over anger.  Meanwhile, Larkin is traveling the countryside chasing leads on things no one else wants to admit exists.  She meets up with an old boyfriend at the local air force base, she uses him to get inside a warehouse for clues about a crate removed from Key Largo.  She doesn't know yet that she was seen where she shouldn't be.  Russell is supposed to be a park ranger, but he hasn't been to work yet, something always seems get in his way.

Enter Father Scanlon.  An alien invasion that draws people in through the church? This is gonna get very freaky.
